Screen printing wins when one design goes on a lot of shirts. DTF wins when the art is full-color or changes from guest to guest. Plenty of Phoenix events run both from one crew.
Screen printing
We burn a screen for each color before the event, and the printer pulls ink by hand on the press. It's the quickest way to put one bold, one- to three-color design on hundreds of tees, which makes it the fit for a show day at Phoenix Convention Center or a festival run. The catch: every color is another screen, and the art is fixed once the screens are made.
DTF transfers
DTF prints the whole design, gradients and photos included, onto film, and a heat press bonds it to the garment in seconds. There are no screens, so a guest's name, a team, a date or a one-off graphic adds no setup. That suits resort gifting in Scottsdale, milestone parties on the Chandler tech campuses and private events where every shirt is a little different.
Phoenix adds one practical wrinkle, and it's the sun. Both methods need the station and the finished pieces in shade, and from June through September we plan outdoor printing for early morning or after sunset. When an event needs both methods, the press and the heat press sit side by side and guests pick at the table.
